BACK CENTER GENEVA,
SURGICAL AND MEDICAL CLINIC
The Geneva Back Center is located on the campus of La Tour Hospital in Meyrin.
It was founded by PD Dr med Antonio Faundez, orthopedic surgeon, specialized in the management of adult (and children>16 years) spinal pathologies.
At the Back Center, patients who need it, benefit from specialized surgical management for all degenerative, traumatic and tumoral pathologies of the spine, as well as deformities, such as adult scoliosis. Complex spine surgery is performed in collaboration with other colleagues spine surgeons.
When surgery is not necessary, Dr. Faundez collaborates with several other top specialists, including sports doctors, rheumatologists, neurologists, interventional pain specialists, physiotherapists, and others.
Lumbar spine
Lumbar disc herniation
Lumbar disc herniation is in itself common in the normal population. Several MRI studies showed that at least 50% of subjects have radiological disc herniation without symptoms.
The lumbar disc herniation that deserves attention is the one that causes neurological pain (cruralgia or sciatica) with or without neurologic deficit. Only a small proportion of patients with symptomatic hernia require surgery.
At the Geneva Back Center, you will receive accurate information on this pathology and its treatments.
THORACIC SPINE
Scoliosis of the adult
Scoliosis in adults is either due to aging (de novo degenerative scoliosis), or to the degenerative progression of a scoliosis known since adolescence.
Treatment of adult deformity differs from that of the adolescent. Most often, patients suffering from adult deformity are aged 50 years or more and experience lumbar pain with or without neurological pain (lumbar spinal stenosis).
When surgery is indicated, the Geneva Back Center strives to deliver a personalized approach using, in particular, customized implant techniques.
